Awarding winning teams

A creative and innovative program is completed!

The Young Agripreneurs Project came to its completion with the award ceremony of the teams that took part and won the first three places in the StartUp competition in the framework of the program “CAPture the future generation”.

The award ceremony took place in the context of the 4th Congress of Milk, Agriculture and Livestock at the “Ktima Kousioumi” . The winning teams were selected after a competition on the social media of the project as well as the evaluation by a jury which was set up for the needs of this program. The weight of evaluation was 50 – 50.

The awards were presented on behalf of the European Commission by Marina Hadjiyianni, Rural Development Policy Officer, Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission’s Rural Development Policy Coordination Unit.

The three teams that excelled in the StartUp competition had the opportunity, in addition to the prizes they won, to present their idea in front of the conference audience.

TEPAK PERCYSENT team: 1st place

The first place in the competition was taken by the PERCYSENT team of TEPAK, with its innovative idea for a system of marking of agricultural products based on their environmental footprint and the need to protect sustainability.

AGROW team of MIEEK Limassol: 2nd place

The second place in the StartUp competition was taken by the AGROW team consisting of students from MIEEK Limassol, with their pioneering idea for a software designed for the smart management and accuracy of agricultural crops that can be used by professional farmers, the government sector or even by private gardeners.

BIOTIFUL Team – Bulgarian School of Cyprus: 3rd place

Finally, the third place was taken by the BIOTIFUL team, the youngest group with students from the Bulgarian School of Cyprus. The team members developed an innovative agricultural idea based on the permaculture cultivation method that aims at cultivation with an emphasis on respect for the environment.

In addition, all the teams that participated in the Young Agro-Entrepreneurs of Cyprus program had the opportunity to present their innovative agricultural ideas to agricultural entrepreneurs and other actors in the rural sector.

Both the teams that excelled in the competition as well as the other teams that participated in the program Young Agro-entrepreneurs of Cyprus, with their innovative ideas for agricultural products and services proved once again that there is great perspective and dynamics in the agricultural sector of Cyprus. Especially among young people who want to work professionally in the field. What needs to be done is to give opportunities and resources to these young people so that they can innovate and breathe new life into the agricultural sector.

CAPturing the Future Generation, led by IMH is co-financed by the European Union’s IMCAP (Funds for Information Measures Relating to the Common Agricultural Policy) program. It aims at  informing young people, as well as the population as a whole, about the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union.
